This may seem dribble to some people, but when people are not feeling their best and turn to someone else for support, whether that person be a professional, friend or family person, the difference in support that may potentially be given is how much attention is actually being paid back.
Sometimes you can be talking to someone about your problems and the receiver may be nodding and agreeing, but not really paying attention or engaging. This can have a negative effect. When the person does engage and listens attentively it can make a hell of a difference, the problem with this though is that most people need to have the right person there in the first place to do this. You would also think that if a person is in hospital or receiving treatment that the chances of this happening are a lot higher, sadly it is not the case, sometimes it does happen and the benefits are enormous, but due to all sorts of reasons including resources this is a practise that needs to be implemented more as it occurs less frequently then it should. Some people are lucky that they can pick themselves up through self resource, but spare a thought for those that are struggling as a little time and effort can go a long way.
